Mateo Albéniz (1755-1831, Spanish)

Poor Mateo is often confused with Isaac, when not with Soler and Scarlatti, but it’s his fault really: why didn’t he compose anything other than his Sonata in D? Oh, he did?

Maybe being played by the guitar fosters the confusion with Isaac, as did Accord when they reissued the recording of Narciso Yepes in “Jeux Interdits / Forbidden Games”, Accord 139225 (1986) or 222032, with works of Anonymous/Yepes, Granados, Sor, Tàrrega, Isaac Albéniz, Bach, Falla, Rodrigo.
